Lifted floral aromas give way to silky smooth mouthfeel and flavors of fresh picked wild berries, licorice and Santa Rosa plum in this unique take on California Zinfandel. Bottled unfined and unfiltered after 15 months aging in old French Oak barrels. Drink on it's own or pair with just about anything, including turkey, pork, BBQ chicken, and vegetables reduced in red wine or balsamic sauces.WinemakingWe took about 25% of this Zinfandel and dumped the whole clusters into big T-bin fermenters before destemming the remaining grapes over the top. The Zinfandel then underwent a two week native open-air fermentation before being pressed off into old French Oak barrels, where it aged for 11 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
We took our favorite three barrels of Malbec and bottled just 73 cases of this wine just for our 2021 summer release! This wine is
everything you love about Malbec delivered in a light, fresh package, creating a familiar yet unique experience for this rare grape to find in California.
Our Malbec has flavors of Santa Rosa plum, blackberry, coffee, and hints
of dark chocolate, finished off with the lightest of tannins and loads of fresh, food-friendly acidity. This is a truly versatile red wine that pairs with anything
from pizza to ribs, or burgers, steak, and BBQ chicken.Clarksburg AVAThe Clarksburg viticultural area lies just south of Sacramento alongside the Sacramento river which acts as a night time temperature regulator in this hot daytime region. The sandy, alluvial soils of the region and cooling river influence have many likening it to the Loire region of France, making it a perfect area to grow Chenin Blanc (which we also produce from this same vineyard). However, we also found many similar characteristics in the temperature and soils to the lower regions of Mendoza in Argentina, so we were stoked to pick up this vineyard and make a (rare) California 100% Malbec.WINEMAKINGWe destemmed this Malbec, 100% whole berry and fermented it in very large S-bin open-air fermenters. The native ferment immediately took off the first night and the wine was completely dry and pressed off less than one week from picking. The short time on the skins yielded a very aromatic and light bodied wine, which we pressed into old French Oak barrels for 9 months aging before we bottled unfined and unfiltered.
A perfect Grenache for Pinot drinkers, this chillable red wine is
bursting with fruit flavors of wild strawberries, Hawaiian Punch, raspberry,
and cherry fruit roll up, highlighted with cinnamon and white pepper
spices. It's delicious, it's versatile, and we have paired with anything from pizza to duck to grilled chicken and vegetables...the fresh acidity and light tannin finish would even hold up to red meats like Hanger Steak and Filet Mignon. Only 74 cases produced, so please buy this wine before we drink it all!WinemakingThis is our first time working with the younger vines from the top of a steep vineyard on the east side of Amador County, so we wanted to make a light, fruit-driven wine that could be served chilled and perfect for sipping. To achieve this, we sorted 60% of the fruit whole cluster into the bottom of our large, open-air fermenters and then destemmed the remaining 40% of the Grenache on top of the clusters. The wine underwent a 16-day native fermentation before we lightly pressed the juice into old French Oak barrels, where it aged for seven months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
SOLD OUT, THANK YOU!This is our favorite Syrah to date and we are very excited to share it with you! Our Dry Creek Valley Syrah was old-school foot stomped, 80% whole cluster, 20% de-stemmed, natively fermented, and aged for just under 15 months in old French Oak barrels prior to being bottled unfined an unfiltered. Our 2017 Syrah opens with savory aromas of black olive, gamey meat, and violets, leading into a silky mouthfeel framed by lively earthiness, bramble fruit, and orange peel, finished off with integrated tannins and bright acidity. Enjoy this Syrah on its own, but we love it best with grilled meats, especially a rack of lamb!
SOLD OUT, THANK YOU!A very special release for us! In 2018
our Dry Creek Syrah was harvested a day before our Viognier grapes, so we
decided to take some whole cluster Viognier and co-ferment it with the
Syrah (a la Côte-Rôtie style). The result is a savory, yet elevated Syrah with flavors of black olive, fresh leather, violets, blood orange, and bramble fruit with an integrated finish of acid-laced fine grain tannin. A brooding wine an elevated
"spritz of perfume" from the aromatic Viognier. Pair with any cut of lamb, beef (sings with Prime Rib or hamburgers), braised foods, or BBQ and smoked meats.
We are very excited to introduce you to our first estate Syrah (there's another one yet to come), which is co-fermented with our Estate Viognier, a la Côte-Rôtie style and has been tasting great since we pressed it off last Fall! This special Syrah opens with fragrant aromas of violets and black olives framed by flavors of blueberry, raspberry, under ripe blackberry and soft pepper, followed with light tannin and fresh acidity. Great on its own (and ever-so-slightly chilled) or pair with lamb, burgers, steaks, and winter stews.WinemakingOur first estate Syrah release is a co-ferment of all whole-cluster Syrah (75%) and Viognier (25%). We sorted and mixed these two varietals (Côte-Rôtie style) in large open-air fermentation vessels where the grapes were foot-stomped once per day through the three week fermentation period. Once dry, we pressed the wine off into old French Oak barrels and aged the wine 10 months before being bottled without fining or filtering."Gold Dust Estate Vineyard"Our estate vineyard resides on a ridge line at 2700' elevation in the Fair Play AVA of
southern El Dorado County where the significant diurnal shift and well

We have been making a light/fresh style of Zinfandel for years, so when we saw that our new Estate was planted to a small block of Primitivo, Aaron was very excited to work with it. Primitivo is an Italian clone of Zinfandel, which has smaller berries than California Zinfandel, which yield wines of more concentration, structure and weight. Our first Estate Primitivo wine opens with notes of earth, chalk, and minerality, that lead into concentrated flavors of strawberry compote, baking spices, blackberry and boysenberry, which is brought back on the finish with chewy, drying tannins and bright acidity.WinemakingOur first estate Primitivo was 75% de-stemmed and 25% whole cluster, fermented in large open-air fermentation
vessels during its two week native fermentation. Once dry, we pressed the wine off into
old French Oak barrels where it aged for 11 months before being bottled
without fining or filtering."Gold Dust Estate Vineyard"Our estate vineyard resides on a ridge line at 2700' elevation in the Fair Play AVA of

Vibrant aromas of white flowers, stone fruit, and soft white pepper lead into a silky mouthful highlighted by flavors of raspberry, bright red cherry, and underripe wild berries. This Zinfandel is made in the same low-alcohol style as our other Zins, but showcases an intensity and verve that only comes from this special vineyard and the immaculate farming practices of Shake Ridge Ranch. Drink on it's own (we serve is slightly chilled) or pair with just about anything, including turkey, ribs!, BBQ chicken, pizza and burgers.WinemakingWe took about 25% of this Zinfandel and dumped the entire clusters into big T-bin fermenters before destemming the remaining grapes over the top. The Zinfandel then underwent a three week native open-air fermentation before being pressed off into old French Oak barrels, where it aged for 18 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.Shake Ridge Ranch VineyardPlanted at 2,500' elevation between two ridge lines, the Shake Ridge Ranch is a beautiful patchwork of vineyard blocks laid out over the rolling landscape. The uniquely situated vineyard benefits from both high elevation and the volcanic-shist-granitic soils found in this mountainous region. These elements combine to yield wines of both finesse and intensity.
SOLD OUT, THANK YOU!Get a sense for the individual wines that went into our limited 2014 Red Wine Blend + FREE SHIPPING with this three pack! The Cabernet Franc is from the Algeria Vineyard on the Eastern Bench of the Russian River Valley, where the alluvial soils combined with the warm days and cool nights allow for slow, even ripening of the grapes and a beautiful, balanced wine. The Merlot comes from the Coplan Vineyard on the Sonoma side of the Los Carneros AVA, where the clay soils and maritime influence of the San Pablo Bay create growing conditions similar to the Right Bank of Bordeaux...in California!A Personal Note from the Winemaker about the 2014 Red Wine BlendAfter the 2014 harvest, it occurred to me that for the first time, I had produced both Merlot and Cabernet Franc and was inspired to create my first red wine blend as an homage to (one of my favorite wine styles) the classic Right Bank Bordeaux wine made using these same grape varietals. But that wasn't enough...It's with great pleasure to announce that this one-time only, red wax-capped, Sonoma County Red Wine Blend is now available for purchase while supplies last. This is a wine that I plan on drinking for a VERY long time. It's great now with food, but I would recommend getting a few bottles and aging them for several years, opening one occasionally to see how it's aging.
We finally bottled the two barrels of this wine (unfined and unfiltered) in early August 2017 yielding 43 cases plus 12 bottles of 1.5L magnums and let it sit for months and months and months before we finally decided a few weeks ago that the wine is, at long last, ready to be released.
