Description

We finally did it. After 10+ years of wine making, Aaron finally made "King Cab" for the very first time! Our 2020 Fair Play Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from a small, rocky block of vines on a hillside about 10 minutes down the road from our property. Only a ton of this fruit was procured, lightly de-stemmed, and natively fermented in open-air containers for 24 days. The wine was then pressed into two neutral French Oak Bordeaux barrels and aged for 14 months before bottling without fining or filtration. 43 cases produced.

While our Conduit label is strictly focused on Rhône varietals, Aaron decided this special wine should be limited released with our old Conduit logo. We decided to label this the "BDX Series," as Aaron loves the Bordeaux varietals and wanted to have an avenue to feature these grapes every few years. While we will not be releasing another BDX wine in 2022, we do plan on making more BDX varietals in the future, so be sure to grab this beauty while supplies last as we only have this wine available in the tasting room for two months and we are already down to less than 25 cases!

TASTING NOTES
The wine opens up with alluring aromas of tobacco with a hint of cedar, reminiscent of the wine's Old World counterparts; however, as you get into this wine, you will quickly realize how fresh and juicy this wine is with the mid-palet bursting with fresh wild berries, under ripe plumb and cassis. The silky texture of this wine leads seamlessly into a finish of soft tannin and juicy acidity. This is actually a Cabernet Sauvignon that you can enjoy on its own, but still has the power to hold up to bold flavors pairings like Roasted Lamb or Prime Rib. The wine is drinking great right now, but we anticipate it will continue to age and mature brilliantly over the new 10+ years.
