Vibrant aromas of white flowers, stone fruit, and soft white pepper lead into a silky mouthful highlighted by flavors of raspberry, bright red cherry, and underripe wild berries. This Zinfandel is made in the same low-alcohol style as our other Zins, but showcases an intensity and verve that only comes from this special vineyard and the immaculate farming practices of Shake Ridge Ranch. Drink on it's own (we serve is slightly chilled) or pair with just about anything, including turkey, ribs!, BBQ chicken, pizza and burgers.
We took about 25% of this Zinfandel and dumped the entire clusters into big T-bin fermenters before destemming the remaining grapes over the top. The Zinfandel then underwent a three week native open-air fermentation before being pressed off into old French Oak barrels, where it aged for 18 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Shake Ridge Ranch Vineyard
Planted at 2,500' elevation between two ridge lines, the Shake Ridge Ranch is a beautiful patchwork of vineyard blocks laid out over the rolling landscape. The uniquely situated vineyard benefits from both high elevation and the volcanic-shist-granitic soils found in this mountainous region. These elements combine to yield wines of both finesse and intensity.
